By-Elections to be Held for Vice-President and Executive Officer

Doug Jolliffe, President of OSSTF TTBU, will be retiring at the end of December. The TTBU Executive congratulates Doug, and wishes him a happy and healthy retirement after his many years of service to our members.

According to the TTBU Constitution, a mid-term vacancy at the position of President is filled by the Vice-President who received the highest number of votes in the previous election. Consequently, Leslie Wolfe will leave her position as Vice-President to become President upon Doug’s retirement.

Therefore a by-election for the position of Vice-President must take place. The TTBU Constitution stipulates that only Executive Officers are eligible to be candidates for a mid-term vacancy at Vice-President. Thus, a by-election for the position of Executive Officer will also take place; according to the TTBU Constitution all members are eligible to be candidates in by-elections for Executive Officer.

As per the TTBU Constitution, the by-elections will be by TTBU Councilors only at the December 14, 2017 Council meeting. Nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 to the District 12 Office.

The nomination forms and by-election protocol are below.

These are full-time release positions. Please note that, in addition to full-time release for the school year, TTBU Executive members are required to work in the D12 office for the first two weeks of July and the last two weeks of August.  Some evening and weekend work is also required. Candidates are encouraged to consult the Executive Manual, the TTBU and D12 Constitutions for descriptions of Executive Officer duties.
