Strikes at York University and University of Toronto

Academic workers at York University and the University of Toronto have gone on strike.

Faculties of Education

As per OTF Policy VIII #6, the practicum placements of all Teacher Candidates in the Faculty of Education at York University are now suspended, and therefore all Associate Teachers are to cease providing associate teaching services.

Even though academic workers at the University of Toronto are also on strike, they are not members of the “faculty” of a teacher education institution, and so, the practicum placements for Teacher Candidates at OISE U. of T. will continue.

Solidarity Pickets

OSSTF D12 is in the process of making donations to both striking bargaining units, and is planning solidarity pickets for the strikers. Please look for further information in the coming days.

Here are the links to their respective websites: www.cupe3902.org for U of T, and  www.cupe3903.ca for York University.
