Dear Branch President,
Thank you for your continued leadership at your worksite. We recognize and appreciate the time and energy you dedicate to guiding your School Staffing Committee. This crucial work is vital to upholding our members’ job security rights as outlined in the Collective Agreement and the Secondary Staffing Manual.
This is an important reminder that tomorrow, April 9, 2026, is the deadline for two key staffing actions:
- Principals must inform Teachers that they are Tentatively Surplus to the School.
- The relevant staffing documents must be submitted to OSSTF TTBU.
As specified in the “Surplus Declaration” tab of the Secondary Staffing Manual, your Principal must provide you with copies of the following documents by noon on April 9, 2026:
- A copy of the Excel spreadsheet with your site’s proposed staffing model;
- A copy of the “PART I – Summary of School Staff Including Declared School Surplus and Vacancies” form;
- A copy of the “Part II – Declaration of School Surplus” form;
- A copy of the “Part III – Declaration of School Vacancies” form; and
- A copy of the “Part IV – Listing of Mutual Consent for Uncertified Subject” form.
Note: Nil reports for all forms must also be submitted.
Please forward a copy of all five of these forms to the TTBU office by the end of day, April 9, 2026, by emailing Betty-Ann Samaroo at basamaroo@osstftoronto.ca. If you do not receive copies of all five documents from your Principal by the stated deadline, please contact your Executive Officer immediately.
