Provincial Day of Action – April 29, 2026
Attacks on our sick leave, threats from the minister of Education, Increasing school violence, diminishing resources, chronic underfunding – we’ve had enough. The Ford government has been trying to divide us, so we need to show them that we stand together.
This is why OSSTF has declared a Provincial Day of Action on Wednesday, April 29. The asks are simple:
- Wear red! Doesn’t matter what you wear, as long as it’s red. Do your best to get everyone in the school to wear red. A few people wearing red provokes curiosity, but everyone wearing red makes a statement.
- Take a school photo of everyone holding “Fund Our Schools” signs. All schools should have received a bundle of these by now. Post the photos on your personal social media accounts, if you have them. Email them to jkunin@osstftoronto.ca, and we can post them on our own social media.
- Make a creative protest sign of your own, take a photo of it, and sent it to jkunin@osstftoronto.ca. The best three signs will be chosen by our district CPAC, and the winners will get a free pizza lunch for their school.
Fund Our Schools
Have you checked out the Fund Our Schools website? There are a lot of opportunities for you to get more involved.
Please consider sharing your story on the Fund Our Schools website. They remove all confidential information from the stories so that the stories cannot identify our members and simply tell the public about what’s happening inside our classrooms – and the need for more funding.
Please also consider “Adopting a Blue Riding” – that’s where we leaflet parents at schools in blue Tory ridings either at the morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up about the impact of cuts on our students and staff. If you’re not able to do this yourself, maybe ask a retiree or close friend/neighbour who cares deeply about education to help.
You can also quickly and easily email the Premier, the Minister of Education and MPPs to demand more funding.
