Collective Agreement Rights and Protections
Grievances and the Grievance Process
A grievance is a dispute with the Board over the interpretation or application of a clause or clauses in the Collective Agreement. A grievance is not a dispute between members. If you have a matter that you feel should be grieved, you are advised to contact your Executive Officer.
Member Protection
If you have been called to a meeting with the principal or another representative of the Board, you have a right to know if the matter over which you are meeting is disciplinary or could lead to discipline. If that is the case, you have the right under clause L4.3 of the Collective Agreement to be accompanied by a representative of the Bargaining Unit. You should seek the assistance of your Branch President, or in the case of very serious matters that of your Executive Officer.
