Recently, the Education Minister announced that he is launching a financial investigation into the TDSB. The Minister is threatening to take over the TDSB if it fails to adopt a balanced budget. Currently the budget shortfall is 58 million dollars.

The root of the issue is underfunding. The Conservative Government has been underfunding school boards for years. According to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, per pupil funding is down $1500.00 since 2018 when inflation is factored in. To be clear – the Ford Government is to blame for underfunding, not school boards.

We need to send a clear message to MPPs that we will no longer accept the chronic underfunding of public education. Please take one minute to send this email to the Premier, the Minister of Education and other MPPs. Please ask 5 of your colleagues or friends to do the same.
