Gita Madan is an educator, community organizer, and researcher whose work focuses primarily on the intersections between the education system and the criminal justice system. She is a founding member of Education Not Incarceration, a grassroots organization that works to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline. In 2017, ENI successfully campaigned for the removal of the SRO program from TDSB schools.
Sarah Jama is the co-founder of the Disability Justice Network of Ontario. She is a member of the board for the Hamilton Transit Riders Union and is working with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board to create curriculum around combating anti-black racism.
Lang Ncube is the current Community Development Coordinator for the African, Caribbean and Black Network of Waterloo Region. She currently sits as a member on the Waterloo Region District School Board’s Black Brilliance Advisory Committee as well as on the City of Kitchener Mayor’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Her roots of advocacy mobilizing began at the University of Waterloo as she is a cofounder of RAISE (Racial Advocacy for Inclusion, Solidarity & Equity), an on campus service created to address on campus racial inequalities for BIPOC students. Those skills accompanied with her desire for transformative social change have structured her racial justice approach.
Gord Gallimore is a math teacher in the PDSD, coach and director for the Mississauga Warriors football club, currently the OSSTF D19 Peel Racism Reporting Officer and One of the BIG3 of DABRAC (Disrupting Anti-Black Racism Advisory Committee). He is a teacher of 8 years, 3 years in Nova Scotia and 5 Years in Peel. Peel resident and advocate for students that identify as Black, African and Caribbean.
