Who We Are

We are the Toronto Teachers’ Bargaining Unit of OSSTF Toronto.  We are over 5,000 educators.  We work in classrooms, libraries, and guidance offices in every high school in Toronto.  We work with deaf students, blind students, autistic students, students identified as gifted and those who have learning disabilities.  We work in classrooms filled with students who have different learning styles and interests working hard to engage each one, and help each one be successful.

Each one of us is qualified to teach at least two subjects.  Most of us are qualified to teach more. We are all dedicated to the success of the students in our classes.

We volunteer our time away from our own families to coach students in football, volleyball, rugby, tennis, golf, hockey, floor hockey, basketball, and more.  We are staff advisors to Student Councils, Leadership Groups, Gay-Straight Alliances, Chess Clubs, and Multicultural Clubs.  We conduct school orchestras, bands, choirs and ensembles.  We direct school plays and choreograph and direct school dance recitals.  We help students before school, after school and during lunch and we make ourselves available to parents and guardians. We work in classrooms filled with students who have different needs and interests, working hard to engage each one, and help each one be successful.
