Labour Day Parade 2026
OSSTF District 12 Toronto, comprised of the Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit, Professional Student Services Personnel, and Toronto Teachers’ Bargaining Unit, will be participating in the annual Toronto Labour Day Parade on Monday September 7, 2026. This year we are in Section 2 (see attached assembly map), along with our other education union partners (Elementary Teachers of Toronto, ETFO Toronto Occasional Teachers, Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association – Elementary and Secondary Teachers’ Units Toronto & York Regions, and York University Faculty and Student Associations).
The parade starts at 9:30 AM sharp! We will be launching a few minutes after the start of the parade.
**Muster Point**
For the 2026 Labour Day Parade, OSSTF District 12 Toronto is in Section 2 (see attached assembly map). We will gather at the southwest corner of University Avenue and Queen Street West. T-shirts, rulers and pencils will be available at this location starting at 8:45 AM, while supplies last. Friends and family are welcome to join; encourage your colleagues to come as well. No pre-registration is required.
Please look for the OSSTF Flags.
**Travel & Parade Considerations**
Public transit (closest subway station is Osgoode) begins at 8am on Labour Day and is recommended when travelling to the muster point. Roads surrounding the staging area and along the parade route will be closed.
We will be walking the entire parade route (approximately 5 kilometres) which will take between 2-2.5 hours to complete. Please bring sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes. While there are portable toilets near the muster point, there are no washroom facilities along the parade route, or drinking fountains. Remember to dress for the weather: this event goes rain or shine.
**CNE Wristbands**
Free admittance wristbands for the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) will be distributed at the conclusion of the parade, while supplies last, for participants who march with our contingent. Please go to the Wristband Distribution Area, located past the reviewing stand, just southeast of Dufferin Street and Saskatchewan Road near the Wristband Entrance (see attached dispersal map), and look for an OSSTF District Executive Officer.
**Member Rebate**
Upon conclusion of the parade, OSSTF District 12 District Executive members will distribute Labour Day rebate forms exclusively for OSSTF D12 Toronto members (TTBU, OTBU, and PSSP) who have completed the parade march. These forms will also be available in the Wristband Distribution Area. Please be prepared to show your OSSTF identification to complete the form. The Labour Day rebate is $25.00.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to District Executive Officer Mark Kissel mkissel@osstftoronto.ca
We look forward to seeing you at the parade!
